On Monday , the 29th of November the classes 10, 11 and 12 visited an exhibition of the artist Bat-Amgalan Orsoo, accompanied by their art teacher Marc Mösinger.
Firstly, every student had to perceive all the art work, mainly big oil paintings on canvas. After this they had to choose their favorite art work and had the task to copy this work with pencil on paper as good as they could. After this every student had to share their opinion as to how he/she interprets the art work and why he/she has chosen it and what kind of intentions the artist might have had.
When required the artist herself explained what her thoughts were which have led to this outcome. The session was interrupted by a tea break.
The most remarkable sentence of the Bat-Amgalan Orsoo was: ´´When I am not any more on this planet I do not want to leave anything negative behind, there is enough negativity in the world.“ So her art is serving the idea and should contribute to the following according to Friedrich Schiller: to the Good, the Truth and the Beauty.
For some students it was a challenging task to discover new meanings in the paintings. Also the main work could also be seen as a video documentary: her body depicted with melting ice, complemented by ice cubes, a symbol of the cycle of life, as the melting water flowed to the plants, which thus lived and gave us oxygen.
By taking a final group photo the students said goodbye to the artist and considered this short but intensive trip as very fruitful for their understanding of art.
