The German Ambassador, Dr. Ackermann, did not miss the opportunity to invite guests to Carmen Hussain’s farewell reception at the ambassadorial residence. After 36 years as head of the DSND kindergarten, Carmen Hussain is retiring from professional life at the end of this school year. On this occasion, the entire school staff, the school board, parent representatives, as well as several current students gathered to honour Carmen for her outstanding work as head of the kindergarten. Her husband and her children, who had travelled especially from Europe, also witnessed the dignified farewell ceremony.
Following the ambassador’s very warm speech, in which he also praised Carmen Hussain’s social commitment, Headmaster Martin van Neerven added his congratulations. Erik Illig, Chairman of the School Association Board, also paid tribute to the future retiree’s work in a humorous speech.
Anyone whose eyes did not become moist while watching the heartfelt embraces among the kindergarten colleagues must truly be a particularly hard-hearted person.
