To mark India’s 80th Independence Day, the primary school students spent the morning of 17 August 2026 at Nehru Park. Together, they flew kites and learned about a tradition that is closely connected with Independence Day in India.
Independence Day commemorates India’s independence in 1947. Around 15 August, kites can be seen in the sky in many parts of the country. A tradition that has become part of the celebrations for many people.
Our students were excited to try flying their own kites. Sometimes it took several attempts before the wind caught them. The children helped each other, ran across the grass and were happy to see their kites finally flying high above the park.
After everyone had had plenty of time to fly their kites, there was still some time left to play together and enjoy the park.
It was a lovely morning, and we are already looking forward to doing it again next year.
