On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, our school held School Enrollment Celebration for the new first graders in the auditorium. Many parents and siblings came to celebrate this special day with the children starting school.

For the children, it was an exciting moment. Some were a little nervous, but the anticipation for the first day of school was even greater.

The program began with performances from grades 2 to 4, who greeted the new students with the songs “Willkommen hier bei uns im Haus” and “Alle Kinder lernen lesen”. Our principal, Mr. van Neerven, and the head of the primary school, Ms. Faber, also welcomed the guests and prepared the children for their new chapter in school life.

After that, the primary students created a cheerful and festive atmosphere with poems and a dance. Then came the big moment: the eagerly awaited Zuckertüten—large, cone-shaped paper bags traditionally given to children in Germany on their first day of school. These cones, often decorated and filled with sweets, school supplies, and small gifts, were handmade by the third and fourth graders. Along with them, each child received a good-luck message written on a paper clover leaf. The new preschool children also received a smaller Zuckertüte to mark the start of their preschool year.

After the ceremony, the first graders went with Ms. Faber to their new classrooms for their very first lesson, reading the story of Leo the Lion and creating name tags with the help of their grade 2 learning partners.

It was a wonderful and meaningful day, filled with songs, good wishes, and special moments that will be remembered for a long time.
