The Project Phase "India Week" from October 14 to 25 This year's "India Week" focused on the children's everyday encounters in the big city of Delhi. They visited two local markets: one to see fruits, vegetables, and colourful decorations for the Diwali Festival, and another to explore a cobbler's workshop and a tailor's shop. A particularly impressive moment was the visit to a sweets shop, where the children marvelled at the colourful sweets and the making of giant Papadam-Dosas, which they also tasted.
At the National Crafts Museum, the children gained insights into Indian handicrafts, and at the potter's workshop, they had the chance to work on the potter's wheel themselves. During their tour, they also discovered the 100-meter-long clotheslines in Dhobi Colony and learned how the mountains of towels and sheets are washed there.
During morning circles, the children reflected on both the beautiful aspects of Delhi, like parks and their kindergarten, as well as the less pleasant ones, such as trash and poverty. A daily yoga session rounded off the program. These and many other experiences enriched the children's knowledge over the past few weeks.
