This year’s AGM of the DSND School Society once again offered plenty of interesting topics. One question in particular drew great attention: What will happen next with the school building?
The answer came from an excellent source — Mr. Enzweiler, the Deputy Ambassador, came to the school especially to share the embassy’s plans to relocate the school back to its original site on Naya Marg in the long term. Members listened with great interest and asked many thoughtful questions. The vote that followed was unanimous: the members strongly supported the idea and expressed their sincere thanks to the Embassy for its exceptional commitment to this matter.
Beforehand, principal Martin van Neerven gave a lively address introducing the new colleagues and outlining the plans for the coming year. In addition to providing excellent teaching, the focus will also be on improving the appearance of the current school building and on marketing and public relations.
“So far,” he joked, “we’ve been very good at hiding ourselves and our achievements — that’s something we definitely need to get better at.”
With a large majority Chairman of the Board Mr. Erik Illig was re-elected. Newly elected to the board is Ms. Molengwa Rose Luckscheiter, who immediately showed great enthusiasm for the topic of public relations and marketing. We would like to thank Ms. Britta Petersen for her dedicated service on the board.
The evening ended, as always, with a relaxed get-together at the buffet, where conversations and discussions continued in good spirits. To make sure everyone had something pleasant to hold in their hands, Mr. Marco Schilder, Head of the Embassy’s Cultural Department, kindly took care of the beverages.
So we have double thanks to give - for both the idea of a new building and the excellent hospitality.
