On December 15th, this year’s St. Nicholas celebration took place in the festively decorated garden of the German Embassy. Under radiant sunshine and accompanied by Christmas music playing in the background, the children of DSND eagerly awaited the highlight of the day.

Ambassador Mr. Ackermann warmly welcomed them, along with all the guests present, sharing in the excitement for the arrival of St. Nicholas. And then, it was finally time: a cheerful melody echoed from afar, and a red cloak came into view. St. Nicholas, arriving in a Tuk-Tuk, was greeted with great enthusiasm.

The children from the kindergarten and elementary school joyfully performed their songs, including “Eingepackt in Glanzpapier” and “Lass uns froh und munter sein”. The poem “Die Weihnachtsmaus” also received an outstanding response from the audience. St. Nicholas appeared visibly delighted with the performances and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the children for their efforts.

After the show, photos were taken with St. Nicholas, and the gifts that each child had brought for a child from the social project “Hope” were collected. The Christmas spirit was palpable, and all attendees enjoyed the festive moment.

To conclude the celebration, the Ambassador invited all guests to enjoy coffee and cake. The delicious treats, ranging from vanilla crescents to cinnamon stars, contributed to the joyful atmosphere and rounded off a successful afternoon.

The St. Nicholas celebration at the German Embassy will surely be remembered by all attendees as a wonderful experience. A heartfelt thank you once again to the German Embassy for organizing and lovingly hosting this event.

We are already looking forward to next year!
