Preparation-week at the DSND

Many of us were waiting eagerly for the new school year. Three new colleagues were about to join us: Mr. Krug arrived from Germany with the subjects English and History for the secondary school, Mr. Katelouzos came for the primary school (Mr. Loddo already started his support in the primary school at the end of last school year) and also a new principal has arrived, Mr. van Neerven, who is teaching the subjects History, Geography and Sports.

Besides a few official meetings, colleagues especially focused on the media concept and   improved the concept subject specific. The DFU- (German Language Subject Teaching) sessions were used to complete the specific German vocabulary lists  for the respective subjects and also lead to a concept to make newly learned German words more visible in class and integrate them in the teaching and learning process.

In the primary school a detailed and very convincing concept of teaching has been developed for the new teaching groups 1+2 and 3+4, which was highly appreciated.

The kindergarten started to work on a new protection concept for the school.

The currently low number of students gives us the opportunity to individually support our students better and focus on their specific abilities. The subject wise working groups developed strategies for the same.

We focused also on planning our school festivals and had a first aid training. We concluded the week with a welcome party on Friday.

Well prepared and after a fruitful feedback round we are looking forward to the BLI inspection in October this year for which a few preparatory measures have to be completed.

Overall the atmosphere amongst the colleagues is very positive, that the school year has started  in excitement waiting for the students to join us.

We wish the entire school community a very successful BLI inspection and likewise a successful and joyful school year full of nice memories!
